Hundreds of Pacific Rim Whale Festival participants laid down to declare their love for whales and call for whale protection in a human aerial image directed by artist John Quigley on MacKenzie Beach, a traditional whaling beach in Tofino, BC. Applying principles of biomimicry and mathematics, a hearty crew of volunteers began at daybreak to draft the large-scale image. Howling winds, driving rain, a rapidly rising tide, and the timely 'springing ahead' of our clocks made for some extra challenge.

During the 'Night of Solidarity' volunteers, citizens, artists and celebrities spend the night out on the street together with the homeless, sleeping in tents, sharing the problems others face every night.
Positive or Negative: One of them is HIV positive Joëlle Dollé designed and conducted a series of portraits in which one of two people is HIV positive. Without specifying which, she asked about our relationship to another. The association AID became the partner to develop the series and organize expositions. After being presented to the National AIDS conference in Paris, the exhibition consists of 20 pictures printed on sheets of 1.80 m is now traveling: Solidays, Celebration of Humanity, Grenoble, Marseille, Srasbourg, Biarritz.

But it has also effected unprecedented changes in the delicate balance that makes life on earth possible.
Worldwide we are polluting, diverting, pumping and wasting our limited supply of fresh water exponentially as population and technology grows. Overdevelopment of agriculture, housing and industry increase the demands well beyond the finite supply, re- sulting in the desertification of the earth. Corporate giants force developing countries to privatize their water for profit. Corrupt governments use water for personal gain. Military control of wa- ter emerges and they are setting the stage for world water wars.
The new faces of contestation in the 20th century; Jeudi Noir, Déboulonneurs, Brigade activiste des clowns, Dés- obéissants, Anonymous... beyond traditional forms of strikes and manifestations, a new generation of militants appeared in the mediate space to agitate the debate.
